Top 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures

We're proud to announce that we have been recognized by Waterstone Human Capital Ltd. as having one of the 10 best corporate cultures in the country.

The 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures Program, now in its 11th year, annually recognizes best-in-class Canadian organizations for having cultures that enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage. Submissions are scored on six categories: vision and leadership, recruitment and hiring for fit, cultural alignment and measurement, retention, rewards and recognition, organizational performance, and corporate social responsibility.

“In our work at Waterstone, we partner with leaders of high-growth organizations to help them recruit for fit and provide counsel on human capital issues to drive performance,” said Marty Parker, President and Chief Executive Officer of Waterstone Human Capital and Chair of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures.

“What’s so impressive about this diverse list of 2015 winners is their shared belief that culture is their competitive advantage – they know that building and sustaining a great culture is a significant asset that drives performance. The 2015 winning organizations have shown diverse strategies in achieving inspirational cultures that have measureable results.”

“For us at Skyline, we know that focusing on, and allocating resources to, intangibles such as corporate culture is key to a vibrant and healthy workplace,” said Martin Castellan, Co-Founder and Chief Administrative Officer of the Skyline Group of Companies. “Being devoted and committed to our core values creates an environment with very clear expectations, and the difficult decisions become easier to make.  The greatest thing is, we’ve got buy-in from our staff. They were involved in the process of defining our values, which in turn plays a part in reinforcing the foundation for a great company culture.”

With more than 600 staff (including four offices and hundreds of multi-residential properties across Canada, each of which has on-site staff), Skyline’s employee base has grown exponentially in the past few years –it has more than doubled since 2012.

“Communicating our culture has never been strictly a ‘top-down’ approach,” said Castellan. “It has evolved with the growth of Skyline. We may never be able to calculate the exact ROI for having an admired corporate culture, but we do know that each of us is contributing to a company of proud, hard-working, team-oriented, respectful people—and that’s not only good for the business, it’s good for the soul.”
