Drafting Technician

As a result of our continued growth, we are searching for candidates for the following position located in Guelph, ON:

Drafting Technician (Posting #2012-07)

We are looking for a dynamic individual interested in working in a fast-paced, professional and fun environment.  Ideally you are experienced in Auto CAD, have great customer service skills and can efficiently manage a heavy work load!  For the right individual this position has a clear path to a larger role with greater responsibilities.

Essential duties of this position would include (other tasks maybe assigned):

  • Professionally managing all building floor and fire safety plans in company porfolio to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code, the Ontario Fire Code and all other applicable regulations.
  • Proficiently create design drawings to be used for presentations, proposals or for the company website.
  • Liaise with local fire departments and addresse issues and concerns with fire safety plans.

Qualifications we look for:

  • Ability to conceptualize, create plans and interpret space requirements as outlined from site visits.
  • Creative ability and artistic talent, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of building science and thorough understand of a buildings mechanical operation.
  • Knowledge of property management.

  • Accurately interpret and follow oral and written instruction to create quality work products or perform other tasks, seeking clarification as needed.
  • Work with minimal supervision and self-manage as a team member or independently.
  • Effectively convey ideas and information orally and through the written word using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the audience.
  • Work effectively with internal and external clients to identify their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and/or satisfy their expectations by providing quality work.
  • Develop and apply appropriate methods, procedures and policies.
  • Work precisely and thoroughly to produce timely and accurate work products by noticing minor details, recognizing, and rectifying errors.
  • Effectively schedule and manage workload to ensure smooth and efficient operation of work.
  • Multi-task effectively while remaining detail oriented.
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills required.

Education & Experience:

  • A valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance.
  • Post-secondary education equivalent to a 3 year college diploma in Architecture, Construction, or related field.
  • Greater than three years, but less than, or equal to, five years of Auto CAD, or equivalent experience.
  • Registration with relevant Provincial Association, or work towards one, or LEED certified is an asset.
