Christopher Moes is the General Counsel for the Skyline Group of Companies (“Skyline”). He has over 20 years of legal experience working exclusively in real estate. Prior to joining Skyline in September 2008, Chris spent nine years with a mid-sized Toronto developer, followed by 12 years heading up the legal team in the real estate division of a major Canadian insurer. Chris’s practice has focused on all aspects of the real estate industry. He has provided legal advice and services on a broad range of matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leasings, developments and syndications. He has also advised property managers, real estate agents and brokerages. Chris and his team bring a passion for detail, accuracy, clarity, and the highest ethical standards to the practice of real estate law at Skyline. The appointment of in-house counsel and associated support staff means that Skyline is virtually self-sufficient when it comes to its legal practices and requirements. This benefits Skyline in four ways: (1) legals are provided in a timely manner by a lawyer who has detailed, focused, front-line knowledge of Skyline and its business; (2) legal costs are contained at a reasonable level and are predictable; (3) professionalism is embraced and promoted throughout the organization; and (4) Skyline can leverage the legal knowledge that is continually accruing (as opposed to the legal portions of deal experiences being orphaned inside law firms). Chris holds an L.L.B., Law, from the Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. |
