The Skyline Founders and their wives show their support for fellow Guelph Storm Alumni, Mike Vellinga, who’s wife was critically injured in an accident this summer. $15,000 was raised that evening to help with her long road to recovery.

For the third consecutive year, Skyline is proud to be the Presenting Sponsor of their local OHL team, the Guelph Storm for the 2011-12 season.  The founders of Skyline officially kicked off the new season by dropping the puck before the team’s home opener game on Friday, September 23rd at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph.

The Skyline Founders officially kicked off the 2011-12 Guelph Storm season by dropping the puck before the home opener game on September 23rd, 2011.

In addition to kicking off the season, the Guelph Storm family came together that evening to help out fellow Storm alumni, former player, Mike Vellinga.  His wife Andrea was severely injured during the highly publicized stage collapse at the Sugarland concert in Indiana on August 13, 2011.  The accident injured the right side of Andrea’s brain and left her in coma for a month and has recently started her long path to recovery.  To show support, people donned pink jerseys during the game (see photo below of the Skyline founders and their wives who are wearing the pink jerseys) and a bucket was passed around the arena for donations.  By the end of the night over $15,000 was raised to help with Andrea’s medical expenses.  We wish Andrea all the best in her recovery.

Over the past 3 years, this community partnership with the Guelph Storm has fuelled many charitable events that have helped raise over $10,000 for local charities.  Skyline looks forward to another great Storm season and hopes to raise even more funds and awareness for local charities this year.
