[Guelph, ON – November 20, 2019]

On the evening of Wednesday, November 19, 2019, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph, one of Skyline’s three key charity partners based in Guelph, ON, held its annual Appreciation Evening to honour and recognize its donors, volunteers, staff, board members, corporate partners, and stakeholders.

At the event, Skyline was honoured to receive a milestone award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph for support surpassing $250,000.

“Skyline’s impact and generosity cannot be overstated,” said Michael Treadgold, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph.

“Their strategy is about more than giving. It encourages participation and support not just from staff, but from all of its business’ stakeholders.”

Treadgold described his experience attending the Skyline Annual Charity Golf Classic as a representative of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph, and being wowed by the premise of the event – to bring together the entire “Skyline community” for a fun day that, in the end, is all about giving back. The majority of Skyline’s $250K+ contribution to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph is raised at the Annual Charity Golf Classic.

“Our golf tournament is facilitated by Skyline staff each year – it is by far our largest annual fundraising initiative, and it is an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ undertaking for a great cause,” said R. Jason Ashdown, CSO of the Skyline Group of Companies.

“We want to recognize our suppliers and investors who attend and sponsor our tournament. It is through their generous contributions and giving spirit that we are able to raise the funds at the event that make a huge positive impact for our key charity partners, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph.”

Skyline’s model of giving has expanded Skyline’s impact and created a culture of philanthropy that is second to none,” said Treadgold.

Skyline also supports and donates through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph’s annual Have a Heart for Kids’ Sake Gala, Bowl for Kids’ Sake initiative (where Skyline shuts down its Guelph offices for an afternoon of bowling for a great cause), and Golf Fore Kids’ Sake tournament.

Many Skyline staff also volunteer, sit on committees, and/or sit on the Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph offers individual and group mentorship programs for both adults and youth. These crucial programs have a proven host of benefits, including increased self-esteem, health, and income.
